The Inspiring Innovation Programme is part of a wider effort to transform Wigan into a hub of innovation, and this vision is further supported by the redevelopment of the former Civic Centre into a cutting-edge innovation space. Developer, Capital&Centric, have released the CGI images showcasing their plans for a 32,000 sq. ft concrete workspace, set to open in partnership with Wigan Council. The revitalised building will retain its distinctive 1970s exterior while being completely reconfigured inside to offer flexible and collaborative workspaces.
Excitingly, Civic will feature a variety of modern amenities, including a mini-cinema, gym, roof terrace, coffee shop, and sustainable features such as EV charging points, cycle storage, and gardens. The space is designed to meet the needs of innovation-led businesses, offering the kind of modern amenities that can help attract and retain top talent in the Borough.
This revitalisation aligns with the Inspiring Innovation Programme, creating a dynamic environment where entrepreneurs and businesses can grow, collaborate, and thrive in a state-of-the-art setting. The new innovation centre will provide the ideal environment for growing ambitious businesses in the Borough, offering access to resources and infrastructure needed to succeed in the ever-evolving world of innovation.
Civic is set to be complete by summer 2025 and is taking pre-lets now. For more information please reach out to an Inventya via inventya.com/wigan-business-inspiring-innovation.
