A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a car.
Emergency services rushed to Atherleigh Way following the collision involving a pedestrian this morning, Tuesday.
The road has been blocked both ways from Kirkhall Lane to Lovers Lane.
Residents reported seeing an air ambulance land in the area close to Westbourne Avenue this morning.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said the incident involved a collision between a pedestrian and a Audi car on Atherleigh Way.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene.
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered "multiple, serious and life-threatening injuries", police said.
He is being treated in hospital.
Officers are appealing for information and footage of the incident.
In a statement, GMP said: "Officers are appealing for information following a serious collision in Leigh this morning.
At around 9am today (Tuesday, November 26, 2024), an Audi was travelling northbound on Atherleigh Way, Leigh, in the general direction of Atherton.
"As it did so, a man in his 30s was hit after entering the carriageway from a crossing.
"He suffered multiple, serious and life-threatening injuries, and is currently being treated in hospital.
The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made at this time."
This added: "Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for information as they continue their enquiries.
"If you have any information, including dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incident, please get in touch with investigators.
"You can contact police via 101, or gmp.police.uk, quoting log 731 of 26/11/24.
"Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."

A North West Ambulance spokesman added: "A man received treatment at the scene from paramedics and a critical care air ambulance team before being taken to the hospital by road.
"We were called at 9am to reports of an RTC involving a pedestrian."
A North West Air Ambulance spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called to an incident in Leigh on November 26. H72 responded."
