HERE’S a money warning to anyone who lost trust in the banks and decided to stash a few bob under the mattress.
The Bank of England is withdrawing the older style £20 notes that show a portrait of Sir Edward Elgar at the end of June.
For several months after most banks, building societies and Post Offices will accept the Elgar notes for deposit to accounts and for other customer transactions. However, agreeing to exchange notes is at the discretion of the individual institution.
So if you have any stashed away get them spent.
