SICKENED by long rush hour delays caused by bridge works on the Leigh by-pass I decided to try another approach into town.
After it took me almost 15 minutes to reach Railway Road from Kirkhall Lane on Tuesday I had had enough.
The following day I tried going along Leigh Road, round the back of Netto, down Cook Street, then into Boughey Street. It wasn’t too bad until I got sandwiched in there between a bin wagon and another car behind which wouldn’t budge.
As a result we had to wait eight minutes while the wheelie operatives loaded and unloaded all the bins from down the backs.
Was it any quicker? No. It seems you just can’t win.
I just wish the binmen would try to work out another route plan to avoid blocking the narrow streets in the pre 9am rush.
