ONE of the area’s favourite restaurants The Steak House has been demolished.
The building was flattened recently taking with it a myriad of memories.
It must have done all right to stay open for over 30 years.
I remember the days when people didn’t go out for meals and thought they were somebody if they went to the Steak House to eat other than for a special celebration.
The food was basic, but enjoyable. It was standard 70’s fare - prawn cocktail and egg mayonnaise starters and steak and chips etc but always good quality.
It had its loyal regulars who went back year after year and for a little restaurant did very well.
It’s a shame that a little piece of Atherton eating history has, along with other good things of the past, bitten the dust.
It certainly stood the test of time
