SPORT JuJitsu combatants from Leigh were among the 18 strong squad that has just returned from the International Championships in Las Vegas.
Of the 18 strong squad, Leigh and Westhoughton JuJitsu Clubs' own martial art experts displayed skill, endurance and tenacity to return laden with medals won against countries against the best exponents from nations including the USA, Canada and Ireland.
Dawn Gardner, assisted by Alan Francis had the task of creating a world class Ju Jitsu demonstration, highlighting England's expertise.
And local squad members Jack Clarke, Danny Baker, Marc Rideout, Steve Boughton, Jessica Martin and Alex West were outstanding.
Against stiff competition from the rest of the world, they brought home gold. Awards were also forthcoming for team and individual fighting/grappling competitions, bringing England's medal total to 32 - a fantastic result.
Even better is the result for the Leigh area contestants - seven gold, one silver and seven bronze medals - half the medals won by a third of the England squad.
