ROCK trio The New Czars are unleashing a new power into the Metal scene.
Their debut album is a stunning mix of music that will get pulses racing.
In amongst the various styles apparent throughout the album are elements of progressive rock and hardcore heavy metal, a bit of funk with bags of attitude.
Such a diverse package shouldn’t work, but somehow it does.
It might have something to do with the riffs that are infused with both energy and melody.
Greg, Paul and David have worked with the very best in the past; people such as Puddle Of Mudd, Courtney Love, Bruce Dickinson and Alice Cooper.
The album is produced by singer/ songwriter / guitarist Greg, who dreamt up the album whilst producing Alice Cooper’s ‘Along Came A Spider’.
‘Keep On Goin’’ opens the album, and it’s pretty much full on from that moment on.
‘Tell Me’ is a bit too frenetic, but is balanced out by the band’s softer side on ‘Only Dreaming’.
The highlight of the album is ‘Abstract Prague’ which has a thundering bass-line.
Adrian Belew (King Crimson) adds his guitar to nine of the sixteen tracks.
Greg’s influences are all in there: The Beatles, Todd Rundgren and Funkadelic to name but three.
Everything is in there bar the kitchen sink, and I suspect they’re saving that for the next album.
