WITH less than three weeks to go before the big day Atherton Carnival organisers have announced the route the procession will take on Sunday, June 12.

The parade will leave Meadowbank Playing Fields on Hag Fold at 12.30pm and proceed north up Gloucester Street, onto Car Bank Street, into Flapper Fold Lane and back to the start about an hour later.

Stars of the tour will be “Elvis” in his Cadillac, an impressive collection of vintage tractors, countries of the world floats from nearly every primary school in Atherton plus voluntary group entries, including the “Now’t To Do” project. Music will be provided by the Bolton Scottish Pipe Band, Tyldesley Prize Band and a Samba group.

Adding flair will be energetic performers from The Dance Centre and StreetZone troupes.

After the parade the festival flavour will continue at the playing fields. Further details are available from organiser Brian Seddon on 01942 870872 or 07921 094634.
