TEENAGE wheelchair basketball international Gregg Warburton and his Great Britain Under 23s team-mates proudly carried the flag at the Paralympic opening ceremony.
The 15 year-old Westleigh High pupil has made stunning progress in the highly competitive sport and his ambition is to get into the GB senior side and win a Paralympic medal.
The GB u23s team were chosen for the honour after an amazing medal-winning season in the European and World Championships.
Gregg, a bilateral amputee who has the same condition as Paralympian runner Oscar Pistorius, is a member of the Manchester Mavericks team. His 13 year-old able-bodied brother, Lucas, a keen sportsman at Westleigh High, also plays with the Mavericks.
"Gregg's ultimate ambition is to go abroad and play professionally in Spain, Turkey, Italy or America," said his proud mum Janet, who along with husband Darren travels thousands of miles a year in connection with the sport and helping Gregg towards his goal.
Westleigh High head John Banks said: “We are all so proud of Gregg’s achievements. Well done Gregg!”
