A BALL is being held to raise money for a cancer care unit.
The Mayor’s Ball will take on an extra meaning this year for the Mayor Cllr Phyll Cullen as it will be raising money for the new Cancer Care Unit at Wigan Infirmary which is currently treating the Mayor while she undergoes treatment for two breast cancer tumours found during a routine mammogram.
Cllr Cullen said: “I never imagined when I set out to raise funds for the Cancer Care Unit that I would become one of the many people who will benefit from the outstanding service it provides across the borough.
“And it has made me even more determined to help raise money for the vital work it does every day.”
The ball takes place on March 20 at Haigh Hall and entertainment will come from 60s tribute band Carnaby Street and singer Ryan James.
Tickets cost £40 and include dinner and a drink on arrival. To buy tickets e-mail J.O’Connor@wigan.gov.uk or call 01942 404149.
