LEIGH Borough men’s hockey team ran riot against poor Mossley Hill’s third string on Saturday.

The 23-1 drubbing was by far Leigh’s highest win of the campaign, while conversely it was Mossley’s worst by far.

Striker John Brunt became the first Borovians player to score 10 goals in one game, while midfielder Jim Hatton also got in on the act with six scores.

Leigh’s 11th win from 17 games leaves them second in North West League Division Six North ahead of Saturday’s visit to fourth-placed Bolton’s fourth team.

Mossley, whose previous worse in any one of their 15 defeats was 10 goals conceded, remain rooted at the bottom of the table.
