Leigh head coach Adrian Lam admitted their Betfred Super League play-off hopes could hinge on the outcome of next week's visit of St Helens.

The Leopards ran in seven tries in a 36-6 victory over rock-bottom London and are now within seven points of the top-six after Salford's defeat at Huddersfield, with 10 matches left in the campaign.

But Lam recognises the significance of Friday's visit of a wounded Saints outfit that are on a four-match losing sequence.

"It's our season, really," Lam said. "I know they're going to be under pressure themselves. They've been a great team for a long time so I know they'll respond but we've got to respond better.

"We certainly won't be looking at the games they've lost knowing the personnel they have. They'll want to come here and turn their season around.

"One week you're playing the bottom of the table, the next week you're playing one of the greatest champion sides of all-time. We're trying to find our own path. We're right on where we need to be.

"It's about us next week and making sure we give an 80-minute performance. We need to reflect the importance of where we are and what we need moving forward in the season."

After bemoaning a "horrendous start" in a sixth successive loss last week to Castleford, Mike Eccles' London stumbled out of the traps again as two blunders in the first 11 minutes proved costly.

First, Iliess Macani fumbled John Asiata's hopeful cross-field kick directly into the arms of Darnell McIntosh to dot down, while Rhys Kennedy's knock-on in possession allowed Robbie Mulhern to start a move that ended with fellow prop Tom Amone bursting through a challenge to go over next to the posts.

Rocky Leutele and Matt Davis put Leigh 22-0 up at half-time and while London's Josh Rourke grabbed a third try in three games, Josh Charnley, Lachlan Lam and Jack Hughes rubberstamped Leigh's victory.
