THE Carnegie Challenge Cup will scale new heights on tomorrow when two of the sport’s most familiar match officials conduct the 2011 third round draw.
Richard Silverwood, the man in the middle for the 2010 Carnegie Challenge Cup final, and Billy Thompson, who refereed the first of his two Wembley finals 40 years ago, will have a unique perspective of their home town, Huddersfield when they help decide the 18 third round ties.
The draw will take place 900 feet above sea level at the top of the Emley Moor television mast – the tallest free-standing building in Britain – and will be streamed live on the internet on the official Challenge Cup website, www.carnegiechallengecup.co.uk from 1.30pm.
The third round draw will feature the 21 Co-operative Championship and Championship One clubs, French side FC Lezignan, the Army and 13 community clubs.
The third round ties will be played over the weekend of March 5 and 6.
