THERE will be no Grand Final repeat for Leigh East this year.
The reigning champions lost 24-19 to Thatto Heath at Close Street, St Helens, in the National Conference League elimination semi final on Saturday.
Heath will meet last year’s beaten finalists Siddal in the final at Stobart Stadium, Widnes, on Sunday, kick off 2.30pm.
East looked home and dry when leading 19-6 against promoted Heath but a red card for substitute Lyndon Robertson in the 58th minute proved costly.
Heath clinched the win five minutes from time when hooker Kieran Maddocks burrowed over from close range.
East’s tries had been scored by Daniel Kilshaw (18mins), Jono Smith (29) and Ryan Fieldhouse (44), with Adrian Dootson landing three conversions.
