LEIGH MP Jo Platt is correct to stand up against the Government wanting to change laws that will not be debated or voted on in the House of Commons.
When UKIP voted to leave the EU, did it vote on killing democracy at the same time? I doubt it as this is nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with a Tory power grab that could keep the Conservatives in office for years.
How? By changing the laws on elections and the number of years in office without anyone being able to stop them, the welfare state would be killed in an instant, along with the privatisation of the NHS.
Workers’ rights through trade unions would also be over.
UKIP seems to want to turn the clock back to the 1920s and 30s.
I think we should support Miss Platt. She is fighting for democracy and a fair and equal society, not a little England run by a dictatorship that UKIP seems to want.
Brexit will happen but let’s not let the Tories take advantage of it and use it for their own ends.
