IN response to Judith Partington’s recent letter in the Journal headlined ‘money matters’, despite facing cuts of £160 million Wigan Council has managed to maintain all of its libraries when others around the country are being forced to close.
We recognise the important role libraries play in the community so have worked hard to keep them open.
With the expansion of the archives in Leigh Town Hall we decided to move the customer service offer to the library, which is just next door, making accessing council services more convenient for residents.
The town hall has not closed and is still open to the public.
The NHS funds the hospital, not the council.
